Description

This Dakin Sporting Goods Co. order form was signed with the alias "C. Harris" by Brady Gang member James Dalhover. The Brady Gang ordered several firearms-related items from Dakin's Sporting Goods which was owned by Everett S. "Shep" Hurd. Mr. Hurd eventually alerted law enforcement authorities of the presence of the Brady Gang. On the form it is written that Dalhover ordered "3 drums 9MM for luger 32-50 25 shot clips" and is dated "10-5-37". The form also notes that the items were to be shipped to Dakin's by "Monday" October 11, 1937. Mr. Hurd also informed Dalhover that he would get him a used Thompson submachine gun. In the meantime, law enforcement authorities set up a stakeout to capture the Brady Gang when they returned to Dakin's to get their order. The Brady Gang was apprehended on Central Street in front of Dakin's store on October 12, 1937 at about 8:30 a.m.
